There’s an early access you’re probably missing out on, if you haven’t caught wind of Witanlore yet. Though if you have seen the trailer (or played it) you might be thinking “Morrowind with bears”. As an artist myself, I don’t like having my work compared to others but this is the best reference I can give you to convey what the world of Witanlore feels like. The alien atmosphere, wonderous visuals, excellent world composition and engaging NPC interaction. Witanlore has a lot going for it, and if you can get past the bugs and technical issues present in the early access, you’ve found an RPG treasure. The game builds its own unique gameplay system while keeping with the familiarity of some of your favorite games in the genre. Starting with a character creation system, you’ll customize your own bear person or Ursine as they’re called in this world. The best part is that even after the intro video that speaks of a dark era coming on, you are learning that the quest you’re about to begin is something of awe-inspiring magnitude.
Playing the early access, you’ll most likely run into a few technical issues, such as low framerate or possibly UI bugs. This isn’t a hard guarantee, but it seems to be a bit of an issue with the current build. I don’t say this about a lot of games, but with Witanlore, I implore you to bear (haha) with it, because once the game tidies up a bit and the core of the mechanics are laid out to the developer’s liking, the game will be something unique, standing on its own presenting a strange and exciting world to explore playing as a bear adventurer specializing in one of many classes such as a warrior, mage ranger etc. There’s even a custom class creation (I wasn’t kidding when I said this felt a bit like Morrowind). There’s more I’m leaving out, but that’s because this is an RPG with an interesting story that includes the player in an epic legend that unfolds as you play. Why ruin it when you can check it out for yourself? Immerse yourself in this bear-y exciting new world, and you won’t regret it.
